Tomorrow (Thursday) is Field Day for the 1st and 2nd graders in the morning. They will be divided up into small groups with other 1st grade friends from the other classes. They will have a buddy from our class in the group. Most groups will be run by parent volunteers and/or teachers.
There will be stations around the playground with fun games to play and we will rotate through the stations. Thank you in advance for all the helpers that are coming to assist in field day!
Here are the things to know:
- Your child will be provided with a bottle of water from the school. They are welcome to bring water bottles to keep in the classroom for after the event!
- Dress in RUNNING SHOES. Students in flip flops or sandals will not be allowed to participate.
- Dress in appropriate clothes. It should get pretty warm by mid-morning, so please dress your child in shorts/short sleeves (please do not wear swimsuits). Layering with a sweatshirt if chilly in the morning would be suitable..
- PLEASE APPLY SUNSCREEN ON YOUR CHILD BEFORE COMING TO SCHOOL!!
In other news, we will be working on finishing up our first grade finale project on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next week. If you are volunteering, please remember that Tuesday practice is from 10:30-11:20 since we have specials in the afternoon. Wednesday & Thursday practices are from 2:30-3:20 as usual.
FIRST GRADE FINALE...is next Friday! Please plan on joining us on Friday, May 30th from 2:30-3:20 for the finale. Your first grader has been working so hard and is very excited to show off his/her literary skills!
FIRST GRADE PICNIC...will be on Wednesday, June 4th. You are invited to join us at John Collins Park for a picnic lunch. We will be walking to the park and you are welcome to meet us there. If you have an extra frisbee, hula hoops, and/or chalk, please bring those along with you! Your child will need a sack lunch for the picnic that day. We will enjoy lunch and play games from about 11:30-12:30 on Wednesday.
