20 March 2014

I am looking forward to meeting with you this Thursday, March 27th or Tuesday, April 1st!  I have many, many things to share with you (like how much your 1st grader has grown!) and many things to take home.  This Friday, I am sending home a sheet for you to fill out to return by Tuesday, March 25th.  Please think of 3 things to celebrate about your child this year (it does not have to be school related) and then a wish for the rest of the year (3 Pluses and a Wish).

What a great week of spirit!  All week, we had very impressive displays of crazy hair, cozy pajamas, green green green and quite a few professionals.  We had a fun reading time with a mix of first grade friends on Tuesday, writing our opinions about pets (you have a letter coming home to you on Friday) and where fun places can be to read, read, read!

Next week...we will begin our unit on fractions!  This is a fun time to divide things into equal parts (halves, thirds and quarters) while also sorting and talking about groupings of objects (4 out of 5 are yellow rings).    We will also begin our new unit on weather and investigations outside (a good time to see the changing temperatures!).

Your child is bringing home books from our classroom library this week instead of reading club books while I am meeting with individuals and small groups for assessments.  Please continue to fill out the sheet together in the packets--they are coming up with wonderful questions and great statements!

On Wednesday, your child took home an Art to Remember brochure.  If you would like to order your child's artwork on any of the catalog items, they must be turned in by Tuesday, March 25th.

Have a great first weekend of spring (??)!
