13 January 2014

What a fun pajama day we had Friday!  We created hibernation stations around our room as reading nooks for the next month and began creating animals to decorate the insides of our ice cave, frozen pond, many hollow logs and trees.  We will continue learning about animals in hibernation, leading into investigations with states of matter (solids, liquids and gases) and then classifications of objects including magnets for our science unit in January & February.

Coming up:
Thursday, January 16th:  We will be mixing our 1st graders into three groups to explore messages of peace and friendship with a focus on Martin Luther King, Jr.'s influence
Friday, January 17th:  No school (teacher's records day...report cards will be sent out electronically this year at the end of January)
Saturday, January 18th:  Mom/Son Night at the High School
Monday, January 20th:  Martin Luther King, Jr's birthday (observed).  We will have a school-wide silent march in the morning, walking around the block of Wealthy Elementary
Saturday, February 8th...Daddy/Daughter Dance at the High School
Friday, February 14th...Valentine's Day Party
February 17th-21st...No school, Winter Break

Have a great week!
