Tomorrow, you will be able to access your child’s report card
on Skyward, our school network that houses your child’s educational scores and information
as they progress through our school system.
In January, it is an amazing time to look back and see the development
and maturity of your first graders from the beginning of the year until now. I
am excited to share with you how much your child has grown!
When reading your child’s report card, please keep the
following definitions in mind when looking at our marking system for subject
areas (they will be receiving a 1, 2 or 3 in all areas):
1
|
Your child has already met the end of the year first grade goal in this particular
area
|
2
|
Your child is progressing at current grade level in
this particular area
|
3
|
Your child needs more time for development and/or is
receiving extra time and services in a particular area
|
In the area of social skills and work habits (CO, IN, or NY):
CO
|
Your child consistently achieves this skill without
reminders
|
IN
|
Your child needs some
reminders with this skill
|
NY
|
Your child needs more time for development and/or
consistent reminders with this skill
|
In first grade, this report card is more for your information than for your child. Celebrate the successes in your child's life in and out of school. The more positives that your child hears, the more your child will grow in that direction! If you have any questions about your child’s report card, I
would be more than happy to sit down with you and discuss it! What a caring, bright
class family we have!

A couple of other notes of interest:
*Coming home today...Your child's class picture taken by Geskus Photography. So cute! Mrs. den Dulk, our art teacher, is sending home a few pieces of artwork that they have been working on...such amazing work!
*Please pack an extra snack for those Willy Wonka singers for their practice on Monday after school.
*Book bags began coming home again this week. Your children are beginning to read longer books that might not get sent home every night. On the nights that they do not have a book from school, please snuggle up with your first graders with a good book from home or the library...take turns reading pages, read to your child or have them read to you. Ask them questions or have them tell you their favorite parts or what connections they have to the book (if it reminds them of a different book, something that's happened to them, etc).
*Scholastic Book Orders are due tomorrow (Friday).
*January 31st (next Friday) is Family Night at Wealthy. They will be serving popcorn and showing the movie Despicable Me 2 in the gym. The fun night begins at 6:30 pm!
*Mr. Morey has announced an IXL challenge. Those that complete the most minutes per grade level or have improved the most over the course of this semester will be able to eat lunch with Mr. Morey at the end of the year. Keep those calendars handy and have fun with IXL!
*Have a great weekend!
