Goods and services aplenty! We had a brisk, beautiful fall morning to travel to the Fulton Street Farmer's Market on Wednesday morning. Thank you to all that could help us find producers, consumers, goods, services and even scarcity :) at the market. Our 1st graders were consumers, paying a producer money for a pumpkin and an apple. A slideshow of the pictures is now in progress. I will email you the link when it is ready!
Our expert of the week this week was Gibralta DeBarge! She is an expert in iPad games. Gibralta brought a poster with special pictures and showed us some of her favorite games. Thank you, Gibralta!
Our 1st grade classmate, Joey Collins, will be in the Children's Creations production of Sleeping Beauty next Tuesday at 7pm at Pioneer Auditorium at Wealthy Elementary. Way to go, Joey!
All first grade students next week will be learning about bats with a special bat presentation on Tuesday morning. We continue our science explorations and understanding of the life cycles of living things (apples, pumpkins, bats).
Our Halloween party sounds like it has taken off and will be very fun! Thank you to those that confirmed with Sue Rosmarin in providing supplies and helping out (and big thank you to Sue!!). We will have an early recess at 1:45 that day. If you would like to come at this time at help with costumes, you are more than welcome. Recess will end at 2:00, with our Wealthy school parade beginning at 2:10. We will begin our party as soon as we come back!
Math and Reading Homework...
Thank you for keeping up with the IXL homework and returning book bags each day. I will be sending home a new calendar at the end of next week for November for math. Please know that we are only asking for 10 minutes a night of homework. As always, the MOST important "homework" EVERY DAY is reading aloud to your child. Your modeling is most influential in creating a successful reader. If you need some great read aloud suggestions, please go here.
If your child enjoys IXL or reading more, fantastic! If not, 10 minutes is more than enough. Beginning next week, I will be sending home a new sheet in the book bags to fill out. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!
Beginning next week...look for a new form to fill out in the book bags that come home!
Have a fantastic weekend!
